Vienna is the only metropolis in the world that has significant viticulture within the city limits. Around 700 hectares of Viennese vineyards - that shapes the image of the city and its culture of enjoyment. Viticulture has a long tradition in Vienna. White wines are grown on around 80 percent of the vineyards, and the Viennese mixed set is a specialty. Today, Vienna presents itself as a city with a lively wine scene. Viennese wine can be enjoyed in numerous restaurants in the city or in the outskirts at the Heurigen, which offer wine from their own vineyards and homemade delicacies at the buffet.
