Discover a first-class range of wines in our 600-year-old, four-storey vaulted cellar in the heart of Vienna. Just a few steps away from the always busy Rotenturmstraße, the Wein-Feinkost is located exactly where the right city gate, the so-called Porta Principalis Dextra , of the Vindobona legionary camp was located in Roman times.

Romans and Bricks
From the ground floor, where you can let yourself be tempted by the finest delicacies and specialties of Austria, an inconspicuous staircase leads down to this fascinating place - and our unique vinotheque, spread over four vaulted cellars from the 15th century. In order to save bricks, huge blocks of stone from the old Roman settlement were used as building material, but most of the walls and vaults were built with bricks.

From mead bar to vinotheque
The first of four basement floors, in which there is a constant 6-8 °C, is reminiscent of the apse of a chapel. This impressive room is supported, among other things, by a column from the time of Joseph II. And today our fine range of white wines awaits you here.
The bricks are falling
Anything but dusty
Another floor down and you are already two floors away from the hustle and bustle of downtown, but right in the heart of the wine shop for red wine. Here you can also observe a phenomenon that is typical of historical cellars on the wine bottles: efflorescence and porous materials from the bricks trickle down to the floor from time to time - or on wine bottles - and leave behind the typical wine cellar dust. We only clean it up sporadically, on the one hand it would be a Sisyphean task, on the other hand we are proud of this special character of wine storage.

Exclusive events
We have set up a cozy café on the third basement floor. Tastings and other events related to wine and delicacies are held here regularly.
